An Amplidyne Booster was a device used to convert DC current from a battery or generator into AC current for use in AC units, flourescent lighting, and electric razors. Today we would call it an inverter. The device shown under Sciota Rapids at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is 45" long. It is 15" in diameter. Note the brackets used to attach the device to the underframe of the car as well as the large vertical plate onto which these brackets attach.
