My name is Jamie Bothwell. I started down this road many years ago when S Helper Service and American Models teamed up to produce some very nice heavyweight Pullman cars in S scale. In those pre-internet days, that lead me to buy a book, and then another book, and then a library of books about passenger cars. My initial focus was cars that ran on the Pennsylvania Railroad, but I have expanded that base to include other railroads and, of course, the Pullman Company itself. I maintain a list of heavyweight Pullmans that still exist, and I'm still trying to visit all of them. (There are about 200 still around.) I'm starting on Lightweights, but there are a lot more of those.
Here I am measuring the coupler carry iron on the Pullman Car Lotos Club at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
(It isn't often that you can do this in the air conditioning.)
